Texas Longhorns Band to Miss TCU Trip Due to COVID Protocol


The Texas Longhorns football team are expected to be deprived of their fanfare this Saturday when they travel to Fort Worth to take on the TCU Horned Frogs.

The group will be forced to miss the trip, after suspending operations due to COVID-19 protocols, the university citing “an abundance of caution.

The group was also scheduled to perform on Thursday and Friday for the Longhorns volleyball team, which will face the West Virginia Mountaineers in Austin.

The university issued a full statement on the suspension:

As a precaution, the Longhorn Band and Longhorn Pep Band are suspending their training sessions this week due to COVID-19 protocols and will not be able to perform at Texas Athletics events. The Longhorn Pep Band was scheduled to perform in volleyball matches on Thursday and Friday, and the Longhorn Band was scheduled to perform in UT’s road soccer match at the TCU on Saturday, but neither group will be able to attend these. events.

The Longhorns (3-1) head to Fort Worth after recording their best score in a game since the 2005 season, beating Texas Tech 70-35.

Texas and TCU are scheduled to begin at 11:00 am CT on ABC.
