Solano Women’s Volleyball dominates Los Medanos and grabs top spot from BVC

ROCKVILLE — The Solano Community College women’s volleyball team became sole possession of first place in the Bay Valley Conference on Friday night by beating second-place Los Medanos, 25-10, 25-27, 25-9, 25-7.

The Falcons improved to 11-0 in BVC games and 23-7 overall. Solano will host Contra Costa at 6 p.m. Friday for Sophomore Night to close out the regular season. The playoff standings will be announced Nov. 17.

The second set marked the Falcons’ first one-set loss of the entire BVC season. But Solano head coach Darla Williams says Los Medanos outside hitters are getting some great killing shots.

“We pulled ourselves together and played really well in the third and fourth sets,” Williams said via email. “We are alone in possession of the top spot with one game to go.”

Sammy Brown led the team with 15 kills and served 18 for 18 with three aces. Dani Rydjord had seven kills without any errors, and also had 21 assists and four aces. Hannah Del Rio added six kills and five blocks.

Kelsey Wall served 22 for 22 with two aces, four blocks and four kills. Crystal Carroll led the way on defense with 12 digs. Lili Ayala added three kills on zero errors and four blocks.

The Falcons were able to serve 95% as a team in the game and recorded 11 aces.

The win was the Falcons’ 46th straight in conference play.
