LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – A cold front will bring gusty winds, cooler temperatures and a light squall of rain on Monday, followed by a big heat.
A mild Sunday night with strong southwesterly winds. Temperatures will drop between the mid 30s and lower 40s. Mostly clear skies and gusty winds around 10-20 mph. We will remain dry overnight but the chance of rain comes into the forecast on Monday as a cold front moves into the southern plains.
The frontal boundary will move early in the morning, shifting the direction of our winds to the north, helping to keep temperatures around 10 degrees cooler on Monday. Highs will be in the mid 50’s to mid 60’s. Staying cool winds from the northwest around 15-25 mph.
Light rain showers will try to sweep through Monday afternoon, but some drier air may limit precipitation reaching the surface. There is about a 10% chance that there will be a downpour anywhere and the precipitation will be light.
This “cold” front is not too strong, thankfully, and afternoon temperatures will rebound into the 70s by Tuesday. Skies will clear after Monday afternoon and the winds will subside. A high of 72 degrees for Tuesday with plenty of sunshine and highs reaching 80 by Wednesday.
Our second cold front in the forecast will continue on Thursday, again bringing windy/breezy conditions, a slight chance of rain and slightly cooler temperatures to end the week of spring break. Looking ahead to next weekend, temperatures will climb back into the 70s as dry and sunny conditions return.
Have a fun and safe spring break and enjoy the great weather!
