Rocky Hill man arrested for possession of guns and narcotics in Middletown


MIDDLETOWN – A Rocky Hill man has been arrested after police found an illegal gun and drugs during a traffic stop in Middletown on Wednesday.

Michael Jackson, 32, has been charged with disobeying a stop sign, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance in a school zone , possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of drug paraphernalia in a school zone, possession with intent to sell, possession with intent to sell in a school zone, sale of controlled substance, illegal possession of a weapon in a vehicle motor, criminal possession of a firearm, violation of the requirement for a pistol license, illegal purchase from a large capacity store, and risk of injury to a minor.

Charges were filed after a routine traffic stop in the Stack Street area. During the motor vehicle stop, probable cause was established for searching Jackson and his motor vehicle, police said.

During this search, police found a Glock 19 handgun with an extended 31 round magazine loaded with 25 rounds as well as a round in the chamber, just under 26 grams of crack, drug paraphernalia , several cell phones and a large, undisclosed sum of money. A minor was found in Jackson’s vehicle during the stop.

Jackson is a convicted felon and banned from possession of firearms. He was discovered to be driving with a suspended driver’s license, police said.

Jackson was held on $ 275,000 bail and taken to court on Thursday. He is due in court on November 19, according to the website of the state’s judicial department.
