A 44-year-old Merced man was arrested on Thursday for possession of narcotics and ammunition after he was found hiding in a house, police say.

A 44-year-old Merced man was arrested for suspected possession of narcotics and ammunition after he was found hiding in a Merced home on Thursday morning, police say.

Members of the Merced Police Departments Gang Violence Suppression Unit were following reports that Teng Yeng, 44, was hiding at a residence in the 600 block of Cartmell Drive in Merced at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, a statement said. release from the Merced Police Department.

Yang was wanted on multiple arrest warrants for violating his probation.

Officers located Yang in the house and also found 15 grams of methamphetamine and ammunition where Yang was found. An unregistered 9mm handgun was found in the house. The police are trying to determine who owns the weapon.

Yang was incarcerated in Merced County Jail for his warrants, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of ammunition by a prohibited person.
