James “Jim” Franklin Mullen joined the Angels on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, after 84 eventful years.
Her spirit is carried by Ellen, Jaimie, Larry, Stacy, Jeffrey, and Jerry; as well as an amazing extended family; and an abundance of loyal friends.
Jim believed it was better to spend time with family, friends or fishing. Among his many accomplishments, he was named NC Bassmaster of the Year 1986, founded the Hill’s Bassmasters, and organized “Youth Day”, an annual fishing tournament for members of the community with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, a devoted and loving husband, and a patient and devoted father. Jim loved thrillers, Duke Basketball and anything gravy.
Instead of traditional services, the family will hold a celebration of life this spring.
In Jim’s memory, donations can be made to Carolina Wildlife Conservation; the Student Federation of Anglers; or any foundation that works to promote more arts programs and outdoor activities for children.
