BioGenerator Ventures expands team with new CEO

Crystal was previously Chief Operating Officer and Vice President of R&D at Canopy Biosciences, a Bruker company (Nasdaq: BRKR). Crystal co-founded Canopy Biosciences in BioGenerator Laboratories and was instrumental in the company’s growth, including PE-backed acquisitions of Zellkraftwerk and Core Diagnostics. She led fundraising, technology procurement and licensing, commercialization, operations and business development efforts. At the time she joined BioGenerator, Crystal was leading a large international team at multiple locations in St. Louis, leipzig and Hanover in Germanyand the bay area.

In his role at BioGenerator Ventures, Winkeler will lead investment teams focused on human disease, with a focus on biopharma.

Winkeler holds a doctorate. in molecular cell biology University of Washington in St. Louis, where his research focused on the molecular pathways that govern cell growth and proliferation in cancer. Since his graduate studies at University of Washingtonshe was an active member of the Saint Louis entrepreneurial ecosystem, in particular with The BALSA Group, Saint Louis University MEDLaunch program, from the University of Washington LEAP program and various other efforts that promote the region’s pipeline of life sciences business and talent flow.
